Trip Overview

The Gokyo Lake Trek is a stunning adventure in the Everest region, offering trekkers an opportunity to explore the picturesque Gokyo Lakes, a series of turquoise alpine lakes nestled in the shadow of towering Himalayan peaks. This trek provides a quieter and less-crowded alternative to the popular Everest Base Camp trek, while still offering magnificent views of Everest, Makalu, Cho Oyu, and Lhotse.

One of the highlights of the trek is reaching Gokyo Ri (5,357 meters), a viewpoint that offers panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, including Mount Everest. The trek also takes you through traditional Sherpa villages, lush forests, and pristine valleys, making it an unforgettable Himalayan journey.

Itinerary

Arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal’s vibrant capital. You will be greeted by our team and transferred to your hotel for check-in and a briefing about the trek.

In the morning, take a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. Upon arrival, we begin our trek with a gentle walk to Phakding, where we stay overnight.

We continue our trek towards Namche Bazaar, the main hub of the Khumbu region. The path is steep, but it’s rewarding with views of Mount Everest and surrounding peaks.

This day is for acclimatization. You can explore the village, visit the local museum, or hike up to the Everest View Hotel for stunning views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.

We trek through the beautiful forest of rhododendron and magnolia trees to reach Dole, where we spend the night.

Today, we trek towards Machhermo, a beautiful village with spectacular views of the surrounding peaks, including Cho Oyu.

We continue our ascent to Gokyo, crossing the Dudh Koshi River and passing through glaciers. Gokyo offers amazing views of the lakes and surrounding peaks.

We take a short but steep climb to Gokyo Ri for panoramic views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu. We return to Gokyo for the night.

After enjoying the beauty of Gokyo, we descend back to Dole for the night.

We retrace our steps back to Namche Bazaar, where we can relax and enjoy the mountain views one last time before descending further.

We continue our trek back to Lukla, where we celebrate the completion of our trek.

After breakfast, we take a scenic flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu. Once back in Kathmandu, you can relax, reflect on your adventure, and do some last-minute shopping before your departure.
